Fieldwork sites
Welcome
South West England has a wealth of sites suitable for fieldwork. Indeed, most teachers will at some time (as student or teacher) have visited the South West to conduct fieldwork . . . maybe Swanage, Lulworth, Bristol or Dartmoor. The options are numerous for all levels, from primary through to university.
The aim of this page is to showcase tried and tested fieldwork localities as recommended by colleagues. We would be delighted to receive your suggestions and experiences of suitable fieldwork sites in the South West involving:
- the location and travel suggestions
- practicalities (access, toilets, risk assessment, etc)
- fieldwork suggestions (data collection, analysis, etc)
- further information and references

Our aim is to promote geography and geographical education in the South West of England. Geography SW is a collaborative project driven by a group of enthusiastic geographers who have volunteered their time to create a wide-ranging and dynamic resource to support the wider geographical community.
