The Tarka Trail - Section Four: Torrington to Meeth

The most popular part of the Tarka Trail is the 31-mile section along disused railway lines between Braunton and Meeth, which breaks down conveniently into 4 separate sections.

This article focuses on the fourth and final section of the trail (12 miles), from the Puffing Billy café at Torrington to Meeth. This is the quietest section of the trail, and very different in character to the others. Although it begins alongside the river Torridge, the majority of the trail here is through woodland and moorland. This is the heart of Tarka country, and is rich in industrial history.
