Bude To Sandymouth Cove

Introduction

Bude (or sometimes Budehaven) is one of Cornwall’s premier seaside resorts with a population of around 9,000 people located on the north Cornwall coast. It is found a mile and a half south west of Stratton and three miles north of Widemouth Bay. This walk explores the stunning scenery of the Atlantic coast between Bude and Sandymouth Cove, and the extreme folding demonstrated in the cliff geology is as impressive as the famous Hartland coast in north Devon. The round trip spans some six miles over generally flat terrain, and explores the canal and beach before heading northwards along the cliff top path before returning along the beach to enjoy a classic coastline of folded sandstones and shales.
