UWE Bristol Geography Conference 2020

The University of the West of England Annual Geography Conference Geography Really Matters was held on June 24, 2020.

This annual conference brings together the  geography community in the Bristol region to celebrate geography teaching in secondary schools and academies, share good practice and explore creative responses to challenges.

The 2020 on-line presentations and resources include The Anthropocene: opportunities to (re)unify geography by Dr Charles Rawding from Edge Hill University, Air Quality and Citizen Behaviour, by Professor Enda Haynes, Professor in Air Quality and Carbon Management at UWE, featuring useful data on Bristol, Mudslides, Landslides, Tectonics and Volcanoes, by Dr Pete Rowley, Senior Lecturer in Tectonics, UWE, Water Security and COVID 19, by Professor Chad Staddon, Professor of Resource Economics and Policy at UWE, and Hot Desert Systems by Dr Hazel Beaumont, programme leader, BSc Geology, UWE.

Harry West, GIS lecturer at UWE presentations introduced ArcGIS and story maps with regional case studies and resources.
