The Grand Western Canal

Introduction

The Grand Western Canal runs from Tiverton to Lowdswells, a total distance of 11.25 miles. The canal has been designated as the ‘Grand Western Canal Country Park’ and a local Nature Reserve. The entire length of the canal’s towpath is a public right of way, offering a flat and car-free trail that winds through beautiful Devon countryside and passes close-by to quiet, charming villages.

Paul took early retirement after 35 years as a Geography Teacher, and has written GCSE exam revision books for Collins, Hodder, and BBC Bitesize. He currently works as a Field Studies Tutor in Iceland for education travel company Rayburn Tours.
