River catchment management in West Cumbria

Introduction

The West Cumbria Catchment Partnership, led by West Cumbria Rivers Trust, brings together local people and organisations to work collectively to improve our water environment.

The WCCP website contains a range of very useful resources for studying river catchment management, a key aspect of the 'Water Cycle'. There are several case studies including the Cocker catchment project, the Glenderamackin catchment project and the Flimby flood alleviation scheme.

There is an excellent interactive StoryMap, which demonstrates how national and local datasets  have been used to produce a prioritised Catchment Action Plan based on sound scientific evidence.
